Mesotherapy

SUMMARY INFO

Mesotherapy was initially developed in France by Michel Pistor in 1958. In the years since, there have been wide variations in the substances used and the way of application. In recent years, mesotherapy has been extensively used by doctors around the world to help tighten loose skin, fade wrinkles and lines, prevent aging, reduce cellulite, remove fat in certain areas of the body and treat hair loss (alopecia).

Mesotherapy

Before any treatment, your detailed medical history should be taken so that your doctor knows that you have no allergies to the ingredients contained in the injections. Put your treatment off if you have a headache, discomfort, flu, cough, vomit or fever. Eat broad-leaved green vegetables the days before treatment to become more resilient to bruising.

Mesotherapy helps considerably in dealing with the problems mentioned for a prolonged period of time. At the end of the sessions you can follow a conservative treatment combined with a healthy diet and body workout.

The technique involves the injection of certain substances, via a very fine needle, underneath the dermal layer of the skin into the middle layer (mesoderm) or the fat tissue in the area selected. The substances injected are vitamins, minerals, amino acids, growth factors, substances found in the human body, as well as lipolytic (fat-burning) substances. Mesotherapy treatment can be applied via two different techniques, either with regular needle injections by the physician –which has proven to be most effective– or with a mechanical mesotherapy gun. Depending on the person’s tolerance, pain may be minimal or totally absent.

Mesotherapy is a promising treatment for various problems and can be carried out over several body areas, such as the scalp, face, neck and décolleté, arms, legs and buttocks. The number of sessions required may vary as it relates to the area of the body being treated and the extent of the condition. For example, mesotherapy for facial wrinkles requires fewer treatment sessions than that for cellulite reduction or local fat treatment (lipolysis).

Facial mesotherapy helps give your skin the boost it needs to look younger and brighter, as well as fade the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. It is the ideal treatment for preventing wrinkles at younger ages or fighting existing wrinkles in older women. The treatment can be applied on the entire face area with the needle injections we mentioned before. Each session lasts about 15 minutes and helps the skin regain its elasticity. When combined with a BOTOX treatment, it keeps a youthful glow on your face for many years to come. In fact, the above treatment combination, namely hyaluronic acid fillers and BOTOX, has reduced surgical procedures (facelifts) by 95%.

The results of mesotherapy in the fight against cellulite are impressive. The main causes for cellulite development, besides an inactive lifestyle, genetics, lack of exercise, poor blood circulation and hormonal imbalance, are poor nutrition, smoking, alcohol and constipation. Cellulite is graded into four stages and is more noticed on buttocks, thighs, lower legs, stomach and the back of arms. Mesotherapy targets fat cells, enhances local blood flow, improves skin texture, so that, in most cases, the "orange-peel" appearance completely disappears.

In case of excessive fat in specific areas of the body, the substances used in mesotherapy stimulate the breakdown of fat cells and the removal of the excessive fat from the body. It is the ideal treatment for body sculpting in areas that suffer from localized fat deposits. The therapy has optimum results when followed by a healthy diet plan and exercise. The treatment lasts from one to three months, while the number of sessions depends on the nature of the problem.

Mesotherapy also offers considerable help in treating hair loss from alopecia. The treatment injects a special cocktail of substances and vitamins into the scalp that improves blood circulation in the area. Thus, nutrients are better delivered to the hair follicles. Over time, mesotherapy mixture neutralizes the effects of DHT hormone (responsible for hair loss), leading to accelerated growth of new hair. The treatment lasts for about three months and has better results when combined with a toxin-free diet and exercise.
